Abstract: Koli maasemari gaava, is a balance of the historical elements with modern needs to the particular fishery community. This project is a fascinating journey of discovery and research. Starting with the idea of adaptive reuse and then finding a location rich in abandoned industrial sites like Mumbai makes a lot of sense. Integrating the historical significance of Mumbai as a former fishery hub with the adaptive reuse of Mukesh mills and accessibility of Sassoon dock shows a deep understanding of context and community needs. As we know that fishery is a type of occupation which is not held throughout the year. On a specific month, the fishing will be happening and in the rest of the month of the year , the fishermen wont be having their specific job. So , this project focuses on the aspect to get the occupation for them in the rest of the year where the fishing won’t be done. And the major reason for considering this aspect is ,because of not having the proper job or occupation at the rest of the time the koli community people started attempting suicide. Because of this the community started to reduce in population.
