Abstract

From the beginning of man's quest to know the purpose of life and his own existence, the concept of death as his ultimatum of truth has always been viewed as a moment of transition from one dimension to another. Ancient faiths saw death and transfer in a different light, erecting massive mausoleums and necropolises stocked with earthly belongings to aid the deceased's trip into the afterlife. Soon after the Industrial Revolution and a series of medical breakthroughs extended the typical human's life span, the concept of death, and with it the romantics, seemed to fade. Since the beginning of the year 2020, the pandemic has challenged our way of life and the idea of returning to common light. Every individual, regardless of faith, should be properly buried or cremated upon death. With each funeral draining some quantity of earth resources, it is just a matter of time before these resources are depleted, given the already existing high demand for these resources for industrial labour. A solution that offers some degree of balance must be sought.
