| Abstract: | 2-Acetyl-3-hydroxy benzofuran were allowed to react separately with different aromatic aldehydes in presence of 50% alkaline medium to yield the corresponding 3-hydroxy benzofuran substituted chalcones. The compounds obtained were identified by spectral data and screened for antimicrobial activity. |
